2024 – ongoing

The overconsumption of information and emotional triggers, along with the constant need to simultaneously coexist in both the virtual and real worlds, constructing multiple representations, creates a sense of physical derealization and mental burnout.

The photographs, created using different techniques, capture the dissolution of everyday life and fragments of reality that appear virtual. The project merges "realities" and levels of perception, blending different media to create a multisensory experience.

Overloaded with news images and videos of disasters from around the world across every possible source, the 21st-century human is becoming completely visually immune.

These pictures, taken after a flood in the Emilia-Romagna region in May 2023, capture the fragility of everyday life that we tend to overlook. The pictorial style, avoiding the direct representation of events, is chosen to reflect on the invisibility of this crisis, despite our heightened visual awareness.

Since the outbreak of hostilities in Crimea in 2014, the Russian state has passed numerous laws that contradict the norms of civilised society and common sense. The series was taken in Moscow, the process is not a crime by human standards, yet it is punishable by up to ** years in prison.

The same incompatibility of crime and punishment applies to the Foreign Agents Law, after which this series is named. The law was passed in 2012 for organisations with foreign contacts, extended to the media in 2017 and to individuals in 2019. This law requires all non-state media to include the following disclaimer in each of their publications: this message (material) was created and/or disseminated by a foreign mass media outlet that functions as a foreign agent and/or a Russian legal entity that functions as a foreign agent.

The term "foreign agent" is associated with spy movies, however, in Russia, you may become one without even realizing it. The photographs depict this process indirectly, questioning its very existence, as well as exploring the concepts of reality and truth in a post-truth society, and how photography can function in such a context, where there is no truth and no way to speak freely without consequences.
